  • Make sure you're lit up and in focus.  Do a test run before video taping the entire audtion.
  • Make sure we can hear you clearly — avoid noisy rooms or busy streets!
  • It is best to use a room with a lot of light.  If you have extra lamps you can use, try to set up a three point lighting system.  That will enable us to see the emotion on your face during your audition.  Read the wikipedia page on three point lighting system found here to learn more.

Yes.  But it is not recommended because we are looking for people who can memorize the lines.  But what is most important is emotion so if you are really good, we might overlook you reading from the paper.  But you will have to memorize it for the film.

Should I wear makeup on the video audition?

It doesn't matter to us.  Strong, quality acting is what is most important because this role has a very large variety of emotions.

Do I need to have an agent?

No.  if you do, that is Ok as well.  But an agent is not required.

Can I use green screen special effects in my background?

Yes, feel free to use special effects but is not needed.  It doesn't matter to us.  Strong, quality acting is what is most important because this role has a very large variety of emotions.

Why is this film so important?

This film is so important because we desire to help save millions of lives from the terribly corrupt Black Market Scandal of the sale of AIDS medicine.  This film's influence on the Black Market sale of AIDS drugs and helping to expose the people in administration who use their private enterprises to profit off the poor will someday be compared to the most influential films of all time as listed by...
Are there films that you recommend which are considered the greatest ever?
  • The idea of a greatest ever list is very opinionated.  Therefore we refer you to the wikipedia 'Films Considered the Greatest Ever' entry:

"Every decade, the British film monthly Sight & Sound asks an international group of film professionals to vote for their greatest film of all time. The Sight & Sound accolade has come to be regarded as one of the most important of the "greatest ever film" lists. Roger Ebert described it as "by far the most respected of the countless polls of great movies--the only one most serious movie people take seriously."  The first poll, in 1952, was topped by Bicycle Thieves (1948)The 2002 Sight and Sound critics' Top Ten Films:
1. Citizen Kane
2. Vertigo
3. The Rules of the Game
4. The Godfather and The Godfather Part II
5. Tokyo Story
6. 2001: A Space Odyssey
7. The Battleship Potemkin
8. Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
9.
10. Singin' in the Rain
We at Hometown Petition Network encourage you to see at least two from this list of ten movies  and at least three films from anywhere on the webpage of the Top Ten of Feminist-Minded Films.  There are at least 70 films listed on the top ten feminist minded films because they also list alternates.  It is not required at all for you to see the films and there will not be a test.
Will playing the role of VoodooMama, a ruthless, criminal maniac who is untouchable by any court system, hurt my film career or lessen my chance to be part of an award winning film?

Maybe.  But keep in mind that sometimes when a ruthless person plays in the leading role of a film, that films wins many awards.  Sometimes those films are considered among the greatest films of all time.  Here are a few examples from the USA, Italy, the UK and Hong Kong of films considered the greatest ever with ruthless people (some of whom are untouchable by the law) playing in the leading role as illustrated by excerpts from wikipedia:

USA

    Italy

      Hong Kong

        United Kingdom

        • The Third Man : Voted best British film ever by members of the British Film Institute in 1999.  Currently #1 on the Rotten Tomatoes list of the best action/adventure movies.
Will people dislike me if I play the role of VoodooMama, a corrupt and unsympathetic, government employee?

Maybe.  But keep in mind that some of America's most famous most beloved stars have built their careers and vastly improved their careers by playing unsympathetic roles.  Denzel Washington played in over 29 movies before he won his first Academy Award in 2001 for playing a ruthless, corrupt government employee in Training Day, a role in which he is listed on the American Film Institute's list of the 50 Best Villains of American Cinema."  The following excerpt is from wikipedia:

        " Bette" Davis was an American actress of film, television and theatre. Noted for her willingness to play unsympathetic characters, she was highly regarded for her performances in a range of film genres;
In both films she was primarily an  unsympathetic character playing a leading role.

Is the role of Voodoo Mama really open to anyone all over the world of all ages (ages 18 and up), races, ethnicities, physical abilities, body sizes and weights, genders and sexual orientations (including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trangendered and Intersex)?  Yes.  Yes. Yes.

The beautiful thing about the role of Voodoo Mama is that because of the ruthless, criminal characteristics of this role we are not limited to finding people who have the common Hollywood model appearance.  For example, consider the appearance of Bette Davis in her role as Baby Jane, seen below, in which she was nominated for an Academy Award.  Wikipedia states:
"What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is an American psychological horror film,  In 2003, the character of Baby Jane Hudson was ranked #44 on the American Film Institute's list of the 50 Best Villains of American Cinema."
We can make anyone (age 18 and up) of any race, ethnicity, physical ability, body size and body weight, gender or sexual orientation fit the role of Voodoo Mama.   Strong, quality acting is what is most important because this role has a very large variety of emotions.

Davis received her final Academy Award nomination for her role as Baby Jane Hudson in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? opposite Joan Crawford.

Is there a chance that I could get rich off this film?

Not a chance.  This film will be distributed as a not-for-profit petition movie project as a public domain project.  Although this will mean you are welcome to sell as many copies as you like, it also means anyone else worldwide can modify it as well and sell it as they desire.  The goal is to have as many people worldwide help to distribute and circulate this petition movie as fast as possible.

What is the ultimate dream of this film?

To create a public domain petition movie that helps save millions of lives of people suffering from lack of access to AIDS medicine due to the Black Market sales of AIDS/HIV medicine all over the world facilitated by corrupt government employees.

“there is a major black market scam
being worked on the $30 million a year
in HIV/AIDS drugs we finance... I could
easily name the in-house folks but my
            lips are sealed.”
